The goal of this website is to help people with hearing disabilities in the
greater Chicago area locate entertainment and cultural events that they can
enjoy through text, especially captions. We believe that captioning is the most
broadly helpful way to make live theater and other entertainment accessible.
Captions Midwest was founded by a group of hard-of-hearing and late-deafened people who love the theater to help make captioned entertainment easier to find; to encourage more entertainment venues to offer captioned performances; to serve as a resource for entertainment venues considering accessibility options; and to support theaters and other organizations that do offer captioning. We are members of the Hearing Loss Association of America Illinois Cochlear Implant Chapter, Lincoln Park Chapter and ALDA Chicago.
